What makes Grechka buckwheat special

You may be wondering what the difference is between our Grechka parboiled buckwheat and all the other buckwheat that you can currently buy in the shops. Despite its name, buckwheat contains zero wheat and is actually a seed from a beautiful flower. Buckwheat is farmed in the East and has been cultivated for more than 2000 years! Although referred to as a grain, buckwheat, like quinoa and amaranth, is actually a seed. Raw (green) buckwheat does not go through a heating process, however it does not taste as good as parboiled. Our Grechka goes through a steaming process (like parboiled rice), which helps to preserve nutrients and improve the taste. Some manufacturers roast or toast buckwheat. This method retains few nutrients and buckwheat grains don’t taste as good as parboiled.

Why is Grechka buckwheat a supergrain

Supergrain is a term used to describe certain grains that are considered to be particularly nutritious. Examples of such would be quinoa or amaranth.

Buckwheat is simple and natural in origins. It is an environmentally friendly crop that can be grown in difficult conditions, such as poor soil and drought. Despite its simplicity, this grain is full of wonders that nourish the body and enliven the senses. Buckwheat is rich in fibre and protein and does not contain gluten. Going further, it stimulates serotonin production with an element called tryptophan which regulates our mood and eventually makes us feel happy, while vitamin B enhances this function by stabilising the nervous system and provides support to productive brain function.

The energy of parboiled buckwheat

We believe in the energy that flows through our food and our lives. Every spoonful of buckwheat ignites a spark within, fueling the body with essential nutrients and supporting a healthy gut-mind connection. The digestion process is the first to react - it turns your food into nutrients that your body uses to grow and repair cells. This process, in its turn, influences your gut health. It is scientifically proven that your gut microbiome affects your mental health. Physically and mentally, the energy cycle moves you, you move it, and you move along. It's like a symphony of flavours and nourishments, creating a balance in your body and mind.
