Veganuary - What? When? Why? How?

If you question what Veganuary is, you may find some answers below.

What:

Veganuary is a monthly challenge that encourages people to eat vegan food and follow a vegan lifestyle. Veganuary is run by a non-profit organisation in the UK.

When:

Veganuary is a 31-day challenge taking place every January.

Why:

Veganuary inspires people to try veganism for a month, which leads to positive changes in your health and environment. It is also a great way to start the new year and try new recipes.

How:

This is probably the most important question. In simple words, you must switch to plant-based food.

Switching to plant-based food increases your daily consumption of fruits and veggies, which is proven to be neglected by most people in the UK and worldwide. Eating more plants increases your fibre intake and helps to improve your gut microbiome. Also cutting down on meat and dairy helps the environment.

However, veganism, like everything in the world, has its downsides: lack of nutrients, loss of Vitamin B12, Iron, Calcium, Zinc and Omega 3 sources, and lack of protein can lead to bloating.

Grechka team is sharing some tips with you on how to stay healthy while being vegan:

  1. Eat Grechka Buckwheat every day to increase your protein, fibre, magnesium and B12 consumption

  2. Prioritise eating high-protein and high-fat vegan food

  3. Mix Vitamin C with Iron rich foods to maximise their absorption

  4. Consider consulting with your doctor to understand which supplements are best for your health

  5. Keep reading about the positive sides of veganism

  6. Explore vegan recipes to diversify your menu

  7. Avoid junk food, carbonated drinks, and chewing gum

  8. Exercise regularly

  9. Drink herbal tea

  10. Choose vegan-friendly restaurants for eating out

If you are following the Veganuary challenge, we wish you good luck!
